2 Dalmatians adopts the litter of 4 kittens that their owners rescued and fostered, leaving the humans with no choice but to keep all the kittens

Fostering cats… one of the biggest lies of the industry. Stats are hard to come by on the matter, but we have seen people reporting anywhere from 62% to 90% foster failure rates. And you know what? That is not surprising whatsoever. If you know anything about cat people is that we are weak for cats. A cat showing us affection for one second means that they will have our hearts for a lifetime. And if we already decide to foster a cat… bring them into our home and give them love, yeah, it only makes sense that we will end up adopting instead. 

Oftentimes, we fool ourselves into thinking that we won't adopt, but in some stories… it's obvious that it'll happen. And when you spend as much time and effort as these people to rescue a momma cat and her babies , and then, on top of that, you bring the adorable kittens into a house with very friendly doggos… it's just a matter of time before you accept your fate as a cat owner.

    Does anyone have any advice on how to catch mama cat AND her four nursing kittens? I am trying to trap train mama as she has evaded the live trap twice now. I was originally just trying to catch her to at least get her fixed when I discovered her litter. Fourth picture for reference of the space I'm working with. Catching them feels impossible with so many hiding spots☹

    My boys are 7 & 6, neither have ever been in contact with a cat in their lives. I was working on TNR for a feral cat colony behind my work building and rescued a litter of 6 week old kittens in the process. They are currently being fostered by a rescue. I am hoping to keep two of them, but I'm a bit nervous about introducing the dogs to cats this late in the game. They have never been aggressive and I would follow all guidance on proper introductions. Any advice or experience?

    I would die for them. Momma cat has made a full recovery after her TNR and is back to cruising the parking lot like the owns the place.

  • Ah, you can blame the dogs all you want, but at the end of the day, they only acted on what the sensed to be true already. These cats belonged to you since the moment you got them, they just made sure you didn't make any silly decisions, like giving them back.

    There is a feral cat that lives behind my office that I take care of. In the process of catching her for TNR, I found her litter of 4 babies. It's hard to believe these cuddly little love bugs are the same feral, spicy kittens we caught a month ago. I've never fostered because I knew how it would end, and we will indeed be foster failing two of these little guys
